Marvel & Square Enix partner for “The Avengers Project”

Marvel Entertainment has partnered with Square Enix developers Crystal Dynamics and Eidos Montréal to release a new series of games tentatively titled “The Avengers Project”.

We can clearly see Thor’s hammer  (Mjolnir), an arm of the Iron Man suit, and Captain America’s shield. The broken glasses and monster roar could possibly be a Bruce Banner/Hulk reference, but there’s no way to tell for sure from the clip. These iconic images all set to a vague narration from an unnamed character about needing heroes and reassembling.

Though the video doesn’t give much, but the description does state that it will feature an original story and will “introduce a universe gamers can play in for years to come”. It also states that it will feature “characters, environments, and iconic moments” from Marvel’s long list of comics.

Marvel Entertainment states that “more details on The Avengers project and other games will be announced in 2018” which might hint to other partnerships between the two companies.

A release date was not announced, nor were intended platforms.

What characters are you looking forward to in this new series? Personally, so long as Nova or Hawkeye make it in, it should be a great game.
